Episode 6 - Accidental Discovery |
Harry explains the Sugarhorse operation to Lucas and Ros. |
He's waiting for intelligence from a Sugarhorse asset in Russia about the identity of the mole at MI5. |
Malcolm has spotted a highly dangerous military weapon for sale on the Internet. He has bought it, and Ros asks Lucas to go and collect it from the seller. |
The seller is a teenager called Dean Mitchell. |
He sees the weapon. "Where did you get it?" Dean refuses to tell him. |
Lucas hands over the money in exchange for the weapon. |
But as he's about to leave with it, he spots two black cars outside. Apparently someone else is also interested in the weapon. He reports to Ros. |
Four men are getting out of the cars outside the house. |
Lucas explains to Dean's mother that he's from the security services, that the house is being watched and that they must leave. |
She's reluctant to go. He shows her the men, now at the front door. "Your choice is relatively simple. It's me - or them." She chooses him. |
Being chased... |
Unable to go back to the Grid, Lucas is told to take Dean and his mother to Surrey Quays shopping centre and await instructions. |
Trying to get Dean to tell him where he found the weapon. |
Lucas suddenly realises that Dean has seen it being used. |
"I can protect you and your Mum, but if you don't tell me exactly what happened, I'm going to walk out of here right now, and you can protect her yourself. Now what did you see?" |
Dean finally tells him how and where he saw the weapon being used by an assassin, and how afterwards he picked up a rucksack containing it. |
"Where's the rucksack?"
"I dumped it, there was nothing else in it." |
Lucas spots the men who are following them. |
He grabs Dean and they run. |
As they flee from the men, they pass Jo... |
...who hands Lucas the keys to another car and to an MI5 safe house. |
They quickly find the new car and make their escape. |
Arriving at the safe house. |

A noise at the door. |
An envelope drops through the letter box. MI5 has sent photos - Dean recognises the man in one of them as the assassin who used the weapon. |
Lucas realises the men think Dean still has the assassin's rucksack - there must be something else in it that they want. But he dumped it at a scrapyard. Lucas asks Dean to show him. |
At the scrapyard. |
They find the rucksack... |
...and its secret. |
"This is what they've been looking for," he tells Dean. |
But their pursuers have caught up with them again. "How fast can you run?" asks Lucas. |
They run. |

Escape. |
Dean decrypts the contents of the memory key they've found. Lucas is horrified when he sees it.
"You didn't see anything - is that understood?" he tells Dean. |
Still unable to go back to the Grid, Lucas meets Harry and Ros at an old rendezvous point he and Harry used to use. |
He hands over the memory key... |
...and Ros explains what's been happening. |
At St Pancras station, Dean and his mother are reunited. |
Dean thinks it's all over, but Lucas and Ros explain that he is still in danger, and he and his mother must leave the country. "You know too much." |
But Dean won't accept it. He doesn't want to leave. |
His mother tries to persuade him that they must go. |
But he still won't accept it, and he runs off. |
Lucas gives chase. Dean no longer trusts him - he thinks that Lucas was deceiving him all along. |
Lucas catches him, but he breaks free... |
