New Homes from Hell 2009

Richard Armitage narrates a three part series about people's disasters with new homes, beginning in March 2009 on ITV1.

The first of the series deals with luxury homes. It includes a couple whose home near Sandbanks in Dorset burned down when they went on holiday leaving their lights on timers. Another couple had so many problems with the building of a penthouse apartment overlooking the Thames that they received the largest insurance payout ever for a new build. And the programme also shows a woman who ended up squatting in her own home after being evicted from it for non-payment of her mortgage.

The second programme deals with properties abroad, and the final programme of the series looks at first time buyers who've hit disaster.

This is the second TV series for which Richard Armitage has provided the narration. In July/August 2007 he narrated a six part series for Channel 4, Empires's Children, which told the stories of six British celebrities who had either been born in the countries of the British Empire, or whose families had come to Britain from Empire countries.
