Strike Back : Project DawnRichard Armitage returns as John Porter in Strike Back: Project Dawn. This ten-part series is the sequel to the first series that was shown on Sky in May 2010, and is a co-production with HBO/Cinemax. It premiered in North America and the UK in August 2011.John Porter was the main character in the first series, but Richard Armitage's filming commitments on The Hobbit mean that his involvement in the second series is minimal - he appears only in the first episode. The focus shifts to two new characters played by Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester. As the series begins, Porter is kidnapped by a group lead by Pakistani terrorist Latif. After a first attempt to rescue him fails, the head of Section 20 at MI6, Col. Eleanor Grant (Amanda Mealing) sends Sgt. Michael Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) to find the only soldier other than Porter to have seen Latif, former US Special Forces operative, Damian Scott (Sullivan Stapleton), and to mount another rescue attempt. With a higher budget, the series is even more ambitious than its predecessor. It was shot in South Africa and Hungary, and the action spans the globe. In Region 2, this series of Strike Back will be released on 14th November on DVD (it can be pre-ordered from Amazon UK ) and on BluRay (also available for pre-order at Amazon UK ).
